Hy-Vee’s American As Apple Pie Contest

Why Enter: Hy-Vee is providing Hy-Vee Gift Card Prizes for the following:

1st Place: $150 Hy-Vee Gift Card

2nd Place: $75 Hy-Vee Gift Card

3rd Place: $25 Hy-Vee Gift Card

What to Enter: Any kind of APPLE PIE - Up to 2 pie entries per contestant

Who May Enter: Anyone aged 8 and up – You may enter as an individual or family/group

When to Enter: Submit your baked Apple Pie on Sunday, 8/2/26, between 10AM-2PM

Where to Enter: Arts Center in the North Room of the Expo at the Sioux Empire Fair

How to Enter: Complete the online registration below, or print the flyer, fill out the registration form at the bottom and mail it to the fair office (Mailed entries must be received by 7/30/26)

Baking Rules:

Pies must contain apples. *Note apple type in recipe.
Pies must be made with at least 1 (ONE) Hy-Vee Brand Product *Packaging Proof Required
Pies must be baked in an 8” or 9” glass, metal, or ceramic pie pan/dish (This is to avoid store-bought entries) Pie pans/dishes will be returned the same day
If entering 2 pies, they must be made from different recipes

Submission Process:

Contestants must be registered by the deadline
Contestants may submit up to 2 (Two) pies, but they must be made with different recipes. Contestants are only eligible to win one prize, even if both pies are judged highly. The contestant’s best pie will determine their ranking.
Pies must be submitted, in a box, by the date and time, and to the location listed above
Entries must include the Hy-Vee Brand ingredient packaging that was used. (If the Hy-Vee Brand product packaging is not empty, please submit it in a zip-loc bag. This will be returned to you with your pie pan/dish.)
Each pie entry must include the individual recipe used – please include type of apple/s used. Typed recipes are preferred, but handwritten, legible recipes are also accepted.
Judging will happen after 2PM. Winners will be notified & awarded their prizes the same day.
Pies will be removed from the pan/dish after judging and your unwashed pan/dish must be retrieved between 4PM-8PM that same day. Unclaimed pans/dishes will be discarded.
