Tablescape Theme: Your Choice This Year
Where: Arts Center, located at the NW corner of the Expo’s North Room.
Why: The winner will receive a Trophy and a Discount Voucher from ABC Rentals Special Events for your next event.
Who: Contestants can be a single person (aged 12+), a family, or group of friends. If entering as a group, we will need a group name for the signs (i.e. Smith Family or Daisy Gals), but we will need a lead individual’s name for the potential prize.
What you will need:
- You will need to pre-register by August 1st and bring your email confirmation with you. There will be limited spots available, so please register early to secure your place at the table.
- We will provide a table surface (one half of an 8’ banquet table), you bring everything else, including two (2) place settings.
- Required Material: Tablecloth or covering, plates, flatware, glassware, napkins, menu, and centerpiece (any flowers must be artificial or dried).
- Optional Material: Runner, overlay, chargers, placemats, napkin rings, frame or stand for menu, additive table decorations (seashells, iridescent pebbles, etc.), lights, battery powered candles, votives, candle/candlesticks (Nothing can be lit on fire), and place cards.
Contest Process: Contestants will be escorted to the contest tables and will be allowed to choose an available table surface. You will have one hour to set up your tablescape. ABSOLUTELY no wandering away from the contest area! This is a hectic day, and we need to assure everyone is in their assigned locations. When you are finished, notify a staff member, who will see to it that we get photos of your awesome display. When all the Tablescapes are completed, we will set up short pipe and drape to essentially rope
off the tables. Note: Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of your contest entry, but the fair management cannot be held responsible for loss or damage that may occur. Upon contest entry you hold the Sioux Empire Fair Association, staff, and volunteers & ABC Rentals Special Events and their staff harmless. Because these tables are shared, please be careful. NO BUMPING THE TABLE!!!!! Whether on purpose or accident, it can disqualify you if you damage another contestant’s display. So, be mindful of your hips and waist, and try not to lean over the table too much. Note 2: If also submitting other exhibits for the open class, please leave them in your vehicle until open class submission begins at noon.
