A 70-Year Tradition The Sioux Empire Fair has been a major event in South Dakota for 70 years. Three generations of South Dakotans have come here to have fun with friends and family. In fact, the Sioux Empire Fair is more than a fair - it's a South Dakota tradition. It's the largest fair in the state and has drawn nearly seven million visitors by offering South Dakotan families a terrific line-up of great entertainment, great rides, great food and great memories.

About the Friends of the Sioux Empire Fair Group Amidst talk of selling the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds, home of Sioux Empire Fair, supporters of the Fair have formed this coalition called The Friends of the Sioux Empire Fair. The Friends of the Sioux Empire Fair is a non-profit group of volunteers who want to preserve the fairgrounds for a fair for families and reject the idea of selling it for commercial development.
